Meet Temel Karango

speaker. AUTHOR. FATHER. mentor and Co-Founder of The AUM.

ABOUT ME

A lot of chapters. One question underneath them all: How much of what you believe is actually yours?

Temel Karango has spent his life moving between worlds that rarely occupy the same story.

Music and ministry. Faith and questioning. Politics and community. Marriage and fatherhood.

Raised between Cleveland and Chicago, Temel's early life taught him that circumstances can shape you—but they don't have to define you. After dropping out of high school, he returned with a different mindset, earned a 4.0 GPA and rose to the top of his class.

Then came the Church.

At a pivotal point in his life, Christianity gave Temel direction, structure and purpose. He immersed himself in theology, studied at Moody Bible Institute, entered ministry and eventually became a pastor.

For years, he stood behind a pulpit helping other people make sense of faith and life. Until the man giving the answers began developing questions of his own.

Questions about Christianity. History. Identity. Consciousness. Thought. And ultimately:

How much of what I believe did I actually choose?

Instead of silencing those questions to preserve a title, Temel followed them. That journey eventually led him away from traditional Christianity and became the foundation for his first book, The Fog Is Gone: An Ex-Pastor's Experience of Seeing Past Christianity to Enlightenment.

But the pulpit was only one of Temel's classrooms.

Over the course of his life, he spent roughly 25 years in and around the music industry, worked in politics and lobbying, gained experience managing within the legal industry, worked in community and youth development through boxing and PAL programs, studied Neuro-Linguistic Programming with David Key, and spoke in the mosque in the presence of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Yet he kept becoming fascinated by the same thing:

The mind.

How we think. What we believe. Where those beliefs came from. And how the meaning we give our experiences can shape the lives we ultimately live.

That exploration led to his second book, The SELF: An Inner Superpower Book, and became central to the work he does today.

THE MAN BEHIND THE MESSAGE.

Temel is also a husband and father of six—three daughters and three sons.

He's experienced marriage, divorce, rebuilding, remarriage, changing careers, changing beliefs and starting over more than once.

That's important because Temel doesn't speak from the perspective of someone who got life right the first time.

He speaks as someone who became willing to look again.

At his beliefs. At his choices. At his identity. At himself.

And he challenges other people to do the same.

THE WORK NOW

Today, Temel is an author, speaker and transformationalist, and co-founder of The AUM — Alternate Ultimate Mindfulness, a digital mental-wellness community he is building alongside his wife and co-founder, Marsaidees.

Their mission is bigger than creating another wellness platform.

They're working to help heal the culture by changing the conversation around the mind.

Through The AUM, his books, A New Canvas, mentorship, speaking, podcasts, panels and public conversations, Temel explores thought, belief, SELF, identity, mental wellness, fatherhood, culture and personal transformation without telling people what they're supposed to believe. Because his work isn't about creating followers who agree with him.

It's about creating thinkers.

Temel speaks to people who have done what they were told would make life feel right—and still have questions. People who have outgrown old beliefs. People rebuilding.

Parents trying not to pass everything they inherited down to their children.

Men redefining strength.

People whose lives look fine from the outside but know there's more happening within.

And people curious enough to question what they've always accepted as true.

Whether he's behind a microphone, on a stage, across a table or inside The AUM, Temel's goal remains the same:

Get people thinking.

Get people questioning.

Get people understanding their own minds.

Because changing the culture doesn't begin with everybody thinking alike. It begins with more of us learning how to think for ourselves.

Different microphones. Same mission.

ENOUGH ABOUT TEMEL. LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU.Bring Temel into your next conversation.

Different rooms. Different people. Different Experience.
